Over the course of a lifetime, I have become increasingly wary of Doctors--not to mention uncomfortable in their offices! Imagine my pleasant surprise to have found a Physician in this day and age who answers her own phone, works out of her home, and most important of all, inspires both trust and confidence: I find it hard to even remember the miserable state which brought me to her doorstep.

If I could accurately rate Dr. Walkey I would give her a 100 star rating and that would be too low. I am writing this for anyone who has an illness and has been misdiagnosed and mistreated at the hands of Western medicine practitioners.Dr. Walkey saved my life. I had been very sick for three years and was dying when by good fortune I saw her website. After 3 years I could not find one doctor who could tell me what was wrong with me. I had 4 CT scans and every possible test and yet I was so ill I could barely make it to her office. I knew that she was an expert in diagnosing CT scans as well as a cutting edge acupuncturist and asked her if she would look at mine. After she was able to view my scans I was told by Dr. Walkey that she saw a life threatening major diaphragmatic rupture on the CT scan and that I needed surgery immediately.I was absolutely in shock. Four CT scans had been misdiagnosed by four doctors at a major Portland hospital over a 2 year period. It took Dr. Walkey one look and she had solved the mystery of my illness.She then led the way arranging for my surgery one week later working with my primary care doctor and a thoracic surgeon.During my stay in the hospital she and her husband came to visit me twice just to see how I was doing.After I got home from the hospital she came to my house for the first month and gave me acupuncture and Chinese herbal treatments to assist in my recovery.Today as I write this I know that I would not be here with my family if not for Dr. Walkey. In 2008, I had a series of stressful events in my life over 8 months which eventually led to severe pain in my mid-upper back, left shoulder, and low back. I went to my Family Practice doctor and she gave me Flexeril. After 2 months, this didn't help so she sent me to an Orthopedic doc. He did an MRI, and said there was nothing wrong, and put me on Tramadol. Then I was referred to a Neurologist who did nerve conduction studies, another negative result, so he sent me to a Psychiatrist. He gave me Paxil, and said I was depressed. Then I went to a Naturopathic doctor (ND). She gave me 18 supplements and said I had adrenal insufficiency, was slightly hypothyroid, and needed my neurotransmitters balanced. Finally after $7K in medical expenses, I found Dr. Walkey on the internet.
Dr. Walkey saved me from all this healthcare incompetency. She did 3 acupuncture treatments, on my back, shoulder and between my shoulder blades, where I was carrying all my stress, and all my pain disappeared. She evaluated me with Applied Kinesiology (muscle testing) for all the medications I was on: the only one which was helping me was the fish oil. All the pills given by the MD's and 17 of the pills given by the Naturopathic doctor were harming my physiology. I stopped everything, including all thoses supposedly "healthy" supplements from the ND, and I felt like a new person. Since then, Dr. Walkey has tuned my body with acupuncture, and Chinese herbal formulas (created up to 2,000 years ago). I call Dr. Walkey first whenever I get sick. Docs like her are the answer to the healthcare crisis in this country. Dr. Walkey says "Healing Beyond Western Medicine" and she delivers on her promise!

I came to Dr Walkey last November with terrible diarrhea after every meal since my laparoscopic gallbladder surgery in 2007. I am a 32 year old ICU nurse, and had excellent health, prior to my surgery. I tried the VA Hospital acupuncturist, Dr. Diane Miller, and she couldn't help me over the past 2 years. I went to a Kaiser Gastroenterologist and he also had nothing that helped me. Finally I found Dr. Walkey. She explained that the antibiotics which were given to me after surgery had caused the Dumping Syndrome. With the right Chinese herbal formula, and acupuncture treatments, I was healed in 2 weeks. Dr. Walkey has made the journey from West to East. Building on the empirical, science-based knowledge fund of a medical doctor she adds the wisdom and art of Eastern healing. As one who tried acupuncture some time ago, and was unimpressed with its outcome, I must testify that it is the good doctor herself who changed my mind and health. From the moment you enter her space the energy shines. It is Marilyn Walkey, radiant in her identity as a healer, that pours her own grace and goodness into her patients. It is the tool of Eastern medicine in the hands of one whose care,generousity and insight open the portal to health. I have enjoyed excellent results from my accupuncture treatments for arthritis. Dr. Walkey is amazing! Her medical background put my mind to ease and her extensive experience and training in Eastern medicine puts her miles ahead of your "average" accupuncturist. An extra bonus was the menopause therapy she recommended to treat and CURE my hot flashes!! I'm now a true believer in Chinese herbs...and so is my husband!

I originally went to Dr. Walkey because of back issue's. She also treated me for smoking cessation. These treatments helped to stop a foul, nasty 28 year-long addiction in just a few visits. I even slid, & went back specifically for smoking & two visits later I had stopped & haven't had one in several months.
As for my back, she did things, that pain medications & even chiropractor's could not accomplish. If you are on the fence because of the needles, you are wasting time. This woman can help you. I have nothing but positives to say about my treatments. Five stars across the board for this lady & her abilities.

Before going to see Dr. Walkey for severe radiating pain in my leg, I had already gone to see a medical doctor, a physical therapist, and a chiropractor for one full year. All acknowledged I had the pain and nobody was able to provide permanent pain relief. While the PT & chiropractic sessions did provide temporary relief, after a few days I would have to return for more therapy, while still relying on pain medication.On my first visit with Dr. Walkey, we discussed all my failed therapies, and what I was experiencing now. She then began her acupuncture treatment. My first thoughts were that it was not going to work. Instead of being negative, I stayed quiet, and purchased the herbal formula she recommended. (Which is priced very reasonably I have come to know.)Within a few treatments, I no longer had to take pain medication. The root cause of the pain had been addressed and after the third session I was able to return to exercising. All from a healing science rooted in deep wisdom and guided by Dr. Walkey's honed intuition.

Its tough to watch anyone you love endure the pain, frustration and emotional turmoil of a toxic body compounded by the debilitating effects of psoriasis. And its even more frustrating to watch western Doctors who have no idea what to do order test after test without understanding how to treat what they find - and seeing my wife fade away in the process. Under Dr. Walkeys care my wife has once again returned to the vibrant mother and spouse she was, her liver is healing and her skin has improved to the point where psoriasis has all but disappeared. We could not be more thankful for Dr. Walkeys compassion, professional demeanor and detailed understanding of holistic eastern medicine.

In the second year of grieving for the loss of my wife, the depression I experienced 18 years ago returned. The medication that took care of it the first time was not working this time. On July 3, 2009, I was in a very low place and feeling suicidal. I found Dr. Walkeys name online when I looked up, Treatment for Depression. I called and left a message asking her to call me. Since it was July 3, I fully expected to hear from her the following week after the holiday. Dr. Walkey returned my call in less than 2 hours. After talking, I asked to make an appointment. Dr. Walkey saw me the next day: JULY 4!Since receiving treatment from Dr. Walkey and taking the Chinese Herbs she prescribed, my depression has disappeared and I am currently reducing the dosage of my prescription medication. I have no doubt that in the future I will be able to stop taking my prescription medication all together.

I went to Dr. Walkey after many chiropratic appointments and two steriod shots in the back which only made me worse. I was suffering severe pain from my back and down my right leg. After my third visit with Dr. Walkey I am doing much better with more mobility and much less pain. I continue to receive acupuncture weekly, and expect complete recovery soon.

Dr. Walkey has literally been a life saver for me. When traditional medical systems failed to recognize or treat my condition, Dr. Walkey examined objectively, and treated accordingly. Dr. Walkey used acupuncture and herbal formulas to support my organ systems which were failing. With her help, my body learned to "synchronize" and begin a healing journey. The experience of finding someone who not only cares, but has the knowledge to heal and help is indescribable. I cannot recommend Dr. Walkey enough is an understatement. We get used to doctors telling us we need surgery and we get used to taking medications with innumerable side effects but it doesn't have to be that way. We don't have to be treated like cattle, we are all individuals. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs have enabled me to not have to take pain killers for my chronic pain and I can get rest when I sleep now. Medicines were just treating the symptoms while acupuncture treats the cause. But it isn't just the type of healing that she provides, it's the quality of care that she puts into it that makes the difference. I don't feel like a patient when I go see her. When I leave I am feeling great, like I just spent some quality time with a friend and then relaxed in a soothing environment for a long time. Even if you don't know what is wrong, if things feel a little (or a lot) off, if you can't get a diagnosis, if it sounds like this is the kind of healing you've been looking for then please don't make yourself wait any longer.

I contacted Dr. Walkey when I was laid off my job and was setting up my support network. She immediately scheduled an appointment for that day, muscle-tested and prescribed a Chinese Herbal formula for stress and anxiety. She also did acupuncture to jump-start my immune system so I will not get sick during this stressful time.The Chinese Herbs help me to maintain a positive attitude and when I dont take them I find myself heading down that dark tunnel. I called Dr. Walkey at 7am one morning, saying I was feeling very sick. She told me to come over, and she muscle tested me for a Chinese Herbal formula. I took the powder every 2 hours. I suffered a WHIPLASH injury at OHSU spa during acupuncture

My wife was being treated with acupuncture for a shoulder problem at OHSU's March Wellness Center sp. After several treatments, she was told that I could have an acupuncture treatment in the same room at a discount. I am healthy and had never received acupuncture before. I was told to sit in a chair, a regular low-back kitchen-type chair without head support or arm rests. The acupuncturist placed about 12 needles in me. At this point I began to feel dizzy. I fainted and my head fell backward suddenly, and my wife heard a loud snapping sound from my neck. Later I had severe stabbing pain in my right neck and shoulder going down my arm, which kept me from working or standing. In order to use my laptop, I had to lie down. Reclining was the only position where I experienced any pain relief. I found Dr. Walkey who immediately began acupuncture treatments on my neck, shoulder and arm. I went to an Orthopedic spine specialist who ordered an MRI. He said I didn't need surgery fortunately. Meanwhile Dr. Walkey did acupuncture on me for 3 times weekly for a total of 6 treatments. I have recovered thanks to Dr. Walkey's expert treatment. My advice---don't go to spa's to get acupuncture, even if they are at OHSU. They don't understand the profound nature of healing possible with Oriental Medicine. They treat acupuncture like it's a commodity for sale; two-for-the-price-of-one is not healing, and can be dangerous.

Several months ago I was rearended and had a WHIPLASH injury. I saw an orthopedic doctor who gave me pain pills and suggested I do physical therapy. I went for PT at OHSU twice a week for 8 weeks and got progressively worse. I couldn't turn me neck at all when I found Dr. Walkey 2 months after my whiplash injury. In 3 acupuncture treatments she released the muscle spasms in my neck. She sent me to a physical therapist who specializes in severe whiplash injuries. Since my neck was in constant spasm for 2 months before acupuncture released it, my neck muscles had become extremely weak. Dr. Walkey sent me to Donna Gramont for physical therapy and she is phenomenal. Don't bother to go anywhere else for physical therapy if you have a severe whiplash injury. Dr. Walkey and Donna Gramont PT work very closely together to treat WHIPLASH injuries. They are a winning team!

I went to the Portland Clinic and saw a ENT surgeon who treated me for 1 month with antibiotics and prednisone. After 1 month, I went back to the ENT surgeon because I wasn't any better. He told me that the only treatment which would cure me was extensive sinus surgery with removal of all of the sinuses up to the base of the brain. I found Dr. Walkey 1 week later. After weekly acupuncture treatments for 6 weeks, and daily Chinese herbs, I am now completely free of any nasal or sinus congestion. I now have acupuncture every 2 or 3 weeks, and have been symptom free with Dr. Walkey's excellent care. If your MD says the only option to treat your sinusitis is surgery, DON'T BELIEVE HIM! Acupuncture works wonders, and has saved me thousands of healthcare $$$$.

For the past 9 years I have been unable to eat any solid food because it sits in my stomach for 14 hours and causes severe pain. I weighed 101 lbs. when I first saw Dr. Walkey. She took a complete history and reviewed all of my western tests. Then she set all of this information aside, and began taking a complete history of the physical sensations I feel in my body under different circumstances. Next was the pulse and tongue evaluation. After the very first acupuncture treatment I had no further abdominal pain, and I ate toast for breakfast for the first time in 9 years. I suggested to Dr. Walkey that perhaps my disease was "in my head". She asked me, "Do you really think 3,000 years of acupuncture can be discounted in such a cavalier way?" Now that I think about it, I was being really, really arrogant. But so were my western docs who after failing every treatment, suggested I go to a psychiatrist! Now that's arrogance! Even Johns Hopkins Medical Center was unable to do anything to relieve my severe abdominal pain and gastroparesis. Thank you, Dr. Walkey, for leaving western medicine and dedicating your life to a healing art which is so ancient and has so much power. You may not make the big bucks you did in western medicine, but you have a healing power that far surpasses what is possible with those "toxic western pharmaceuticals".

TRIGEMINAL NEURALGIA PAIN gone in 7 acupuncture treatments!

For three years I've suffered from severe right-sided facial pain which has taken over my life. My Neurology MD had treated me with ever more powerful pain killers which stop working after several months. Before I saw Dr. Walkey I was taking high doses of Tegretol and Baclofen. After just 7 acupuncture treatments in 4 weeks my pain is GONE.... I slowly tapered my pain medications and for 2 months now, I have been pain-free and pain-killer free. Why don't western medical doctors know that acupuncture treats pain. Why don't those docs just shove their double-blind control studies up their keesters, and tell us they can't help us. It was when my neurologist got frustrated with me, and my worsening pain, that I finally listened to my daughter and found Dr. Walkey. Finally I am healed. May God bless Dr. Walkey and all alternative medicine doctors who heal through health rather than conceal with nasty pharmaceuticals.

I went to Dr. Walkey in May 2008 after being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I was in horrible pain, depressed, anxiety ridden and fatigued. After just a few treatments the pain went away almost entirely and now after 4 months I feel like I am cured of all my chronic pain and fatigue. Dr. Walkey spends time talking with me about my issues. She is insightful, intuitive, positive, friendly, and professional among many other ideal qualities. I think a lot of people have a fear of needles and have been raised in a society dependent upon western medicine so they tend to view acupuncture as a last resort. Western medicine is designed to treat the symptoms and not the root problem so it doesn't really work for long term issues. If you are even considering acupuncture or alternative medicine, do yourself a huge favor and go see Dr. Walkey now. You will find her to be extremely accommodating and pleasant. She understands your pain and her confidence in healing you is one of the first things that will make you feel better. She doesn't judge people, nor is she someone who is just trying to get on to the next patient and the next paycheck like many doctors I have encountered. The environment she has created is very soothing and comfortable for anyone but especially for someone with social anxiety like myself. I cannot recommend her enough.

Dr. Walkey gets results.....

I've been treated by Dr. Marilyn Walkey for almost 2 years now for various ailments beginning with plantar fasciitis, but also including venous insufficiency causing leg pain, fatigue and overactive bladder. Dr. Walkey is thoroughly professional, and knowledgeable about both western medicine and acupuncture/Chinese herbs.
When I first started seeing Dr. Walkey for plantar fasciitis. I had been treated by a chiropractor, podiatrist and had worn orthotics. Dr. Walkey was able to take the pain away with her acupuncture treatments. I no longer need the orthotics and I no longer have the pain. I had also had two surgeries in the past year for abdominal cancer and had little energy. She has treated me with acupuncture and Chinese herbs and my energy level has greatly improved. I have started walking outdoors again for the first time in a year. It's exciting to me because I thought my leg pain and low energy would prevent me from ever doing daily exercise again.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr. Walkey to anyone. I value the fact that she is an experienced medical doctor even though she has chosen Chinese medicine as a better way to heal people. She is kind, caring and sensitive, honest, and very informative concerning the treatment she gives.
I would definitely recommend Dr. Walkey and acupuncture for any condition before choosing surgery and for any long term illness that has been unresolved. Please understand I'm not recommending just any acupuncturist as many physicians do acupuncture but are not fully trained. I am recommending Dr. Marilyn Walkey, a very skilled acupuncturist who gets phenomenal results!

Dr. Walkey healed my WHIPLASH

I was riding my bike in Portland and was struck by a car while waiting at a stoplight to turn left. My head whipped sideways and struck the hood of the car, cracking the helmet. I was seen at Providence Trauma Center. My CAT scan was negative and they sent me home, with no treatment. Two weeks later they evaluated me and suggested that I "don't do anything that causes neck pain". At that point, I couldn't turn my neck, tuck it or put my chin up. I saw Dr. Walkey who diagnosed a severe WHIPLASH injury with torticollis. She treated me with acupuncture 3 times weekly. By the end of the first week, I could turn my head, and flex it. Before acupuncture, I couldn't exercise, work or sleep. Now I'm swimming, working, and my sleep is excellent. Why don't the MD's recognize that there IS a treatment for WHIPLASH? It's acupuncture, and it works.

Dr. Walkey has the hands of a HEALER!

I came to Dr. Walkey after my western medical doctors told me I would have nausea for the rest of my life. I have had many surgeries as a result of a botched epidural anesthesia in 1984 where I had a cardiac arrest. Later, I lost my urinary bladder, and then my entire colon. I depend on medications to keep me free of pain. But the doctors could not cure my nausea. I found Dr. Walkey, and she cured my nausea in 3 acupuncture treatments. I have been seeing her ever since, and she has helped me with MRSA infection in my sinuses, abdominal pain, restless leg syndrome, anxiety, GERD, migraine headaches and withdrawal from dilaudid. I feel that Dr. Walkey has been the best blessing in my life for ten years.

Dr. Walkey cured my Cardiac Arrhythmia!

I am 45 years old and love to run. I was diagnosed several years ago with a rare cardiac arrhythmia called ARD (arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia). I was having episodes of irregular heart beats which frightened me. I was told by my cardiologists that I could never run again, because I might have a fatal arrhythmia. I started seeing Dr. Marilyn Walkey almost a year ago. I have stopped having irregular heart beats, I no longer suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, and I have started running again. Dr. Walkey not only does expert acupuncture, she has advanced knowledge in Chinese herbology, which has given me back my health. Dr. Walkey gave me what my western cardiologist could not---a life with no more arrhythmias.

I am Bipolar and I don't need psychopharmaceuticals!

I've been treated by Dr. Marilyn Walkey for 1 year now. I started seeing her to get help with my emotional mood swings. My father is bipolar, and I recognized the same mood swings with times of rapid thinking followed by very dark moods. I wanted to avoid taking lithium or depakote, since these medicines have serious side effects. Dr. Walkey has treated me successfully using only acupuncture and Chinese herbs. I am so happy that I don't have to be diagnosed with a mental illness and suffer the stigma that my father has lived with his whole life. Acupuncture helps my mood, helps my thinking, and has given me a new view of what health actually is. My life has changed with acupuncture.

For two years I have had episodes of abdominal cramping followed by severe vomiting lasting for 1 or 2 days. The western medical doctors have given me a diagnosis of 'cyclical vomiting syndrome' but have not been able to stop the attacks. My life has been changed, I've stopped going to school, and I've been trying to find help. Then I found Dr. Walkey. She is the only Medical Doctor who was able to help me. But she only uses acupuncture and Chinese herbs. It's amazing. I don't have the attacks which caused me so much pain. I'm off the western medications, so I feel better (no side effects). If you have CVS, go see Dr. Walkey. She changed my life!

Whiplash Injury -----after MD's failed for 6 month

I had a whiplash injury in January 2008. I went to my MD for 6 months receiving many steroid injections with worsening of my symptoms. Then I found Dr. Walkey. After 5 acupuncture treatments my pain was 50% improved, and after 15 treatments I was able to return fulltime to work.
Thank you, Dr. Walkey for seeing the weakness of western medicine in treating patients with whiplash injuries & recognizing the extraordinary healing power of acupuncture & Chinese herbs!

I have been seeing Dr. Marilyn Walkey for several months. She continues to provide comprehensive treatment and pain relief for fibromyalgia. My overall health has improved due to her care. The healing treatment she provides exceeds any accupuncturist I received treatment from in the past.

My experience with Dr. Walkey was incredible. She not only cured the excruciating pain of a torn rotator cuff, she assisted me with my general health. I had recently moved from Buffalo, New York to Portland and Dr. Walkey recognized the stress I was under, even if I did not. She is a listener, intuitive and more than all, a professional. She is the epitome of the Hippocratic oath. 'I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment and never do harm to anyone.' My Shoulder Injury healed without SURGERY!

I was biking down Mt. Tabor and crashed causing a SLAP lesion (rotator cuff tear) in my shoulder, which is ordinarily treated with surgery. I saw the best shoulder surgeon at Good Samaritan Hospital and he suggested I schedule surgery. 3 days later, after 5 acupuncture treatments I could raise my arm again. My surgeon canceled my operation, and I have healed completed with only acupuncture & Chinese herbs. My surgeon is astounded, and so am I.

Acupuncture works!

I started seeing Dr. Walkey for low back pain. What I didn't realize is that the acupuncture treatments also treated my whole body. I am bipolar. After 3 sessions, my back pain was gone. My moods are stabilized, and my grandkids are getting to know a new me! I've been to acupuncture before, but it wasn't anything like Dr. Walkey's treatment. She evaluates your physical & energetic imbalances, and treats all of you---mind, body & spirit.

I'm twenty-eight years old and got diabetes at age 7. I had surgery on both my great toes for ulcers causing osteomyelitis. My eyes have needed surgery for diabetic retinopathy. With Dr. Walkey's Acupuncture & herbal medicine treatments, I have decreased my insulin requirements by 50%. My ophthalmalogist says my eyes have improved without having to get more laser surgery, my ankle swelling is gone, and I can face the future without worrying that I might go blind in the next decade. Dr. Walkey is a miracle worker.

I began seeing Dr. Walkey after I had surgery for pancreatic cancer. I was on weekly chemotherapy, had continuous diarrhea, blood clots in my calves, and profound weight loss. Dr. Walkey cured my diarrhea in 2 acupuncture treatments, and I have gained back all my weight now. I no longer need coumadin, since the acupuncture has resolved the blood clots in my legs. My immune system has been restored and my anemia resolved with Chinese herbs which have no side effects. I will be eternally grateful to Dr. Walkey for her deep caring, immense knowledge, patience, and loving care which helped me survive the devastation of pancreatic cancer. Thank you for giving me back my life, doc!

I have been receiving acupuncture from Dr. Walkey for more than 1yr. Excellent results for symptoms of menopause no need for hormone therapy. Also excellent results for the occasional joint aches and pains. I highly recommend Dr. Walkey.

I came to Dr. Walkey, hardly able to walk and in a great deal of pain from a back injury, I incurred water skiing. I had been to MD's and countless Chiropractors, none of which helped. From the first visit, Dr. Walkey was able to reduce the pain and improve my mobility. It only took a few visits and I was back to normal. She is the very BEST!
